We had our last trip of the season fishing Catalina over the weekend and wanted to leave on a good note with a short but sweet season for us fishing up this way.
This trip was suppose to be a run to SCI but we would make that call after we made a quick pit stop at Catalina for some squid making.
We near perfect contions for the run over, but as we rounded the back it begin to get jacked up and a lil breezy.
We got the light and crowder into position and put a couple dropper loops our for good mearure.
It didnt take long before Jim was on a good one, cleared a few lines and sunk the gaff into our first Catalina HOMEGAURD for the year!
We worked through the night to make 2 scoops and no sniffs through the morning for any more bites. We made the call to stick it out at Catalina for the day and it paid off after finding the right contions later in the afternoon.
We had a good go around on some biscuits with a few lost to the kelp.
All in all great way to end our season and looking forward to moving back down to San Diego this week to get prepared for our offshore season.
Thanks to everyone that has fished with us this year on the seabass grounds, next stop blue water!
